Pawleys Island is a small town located in Georgetown County, and it is situated on an Atlantic coast barrier island. Only about 140 people call the community home, and it is situated on the southern end of the Grand Strand. Pawleys Island is one of the oldest resort areas located on the East Coast, and it is connected to the mainland by two bridges – the North and South Causeways. Pawleys Island is located about ten miles east of Georgetown just off of U.S. Route 17.

Despite the small size of Pawleys Island, there are a variety of great attractions and things to do when visiting. Golf is extremely popular here, with courses including Willbrook Plantation Golf Club, True Blue Golf Course, and the Litchfield Country Cub. There are numerous specialty shops located in the community, such as the Hammock Shops Village, Harvest Commons, and My Sister’s Books. There are also a variety of fishing charters based out Pawleys Island, like the Winyan Guide Service, Inshore Xtreme Fishing Charter, and Carolina Guide Service Fishing Charters.

The weather is one of the main reasons that so many people are attracted to Pawleys Island and the rest of this region in South Carolina. While other parts of the U.S. are experiencing ice and snowstorms during the winter, Pawleys Island boasts high temperatures in the 60s, and this cooler season tends to be quite short. That doesn’t mean that you won’t need any type of home heating system – since overnight lows usually fall into the 30s, a heat pump or furnace is still a necessity.

Summer months in Pawleys Island is a great time to hit the beach to cool off when highs surge into the 90s. The area is quite humid, making it feel even warmer, so you’ll want to have an air conditioning unit running at home. Your local HVAC professional can give your system a tune-up to make sure that it is running efficiently before you really need it.
